I definitely enjoyed this book. Steve wrote well, using scripture, to support the truth that "healing is absolutely God's Will". My particular favourite was his writing on "faith like a mustard seed". Fantastic piece of writing! Bravo!
I understand the plan was to keep the book short, referring people to the blog Steve writes for further discussion, however I would have liked to have seen more in depth discussion surrounding the lies people believe about the scriptures Steve used to confirm healing. For example, doubting whether their sins are forgiven if there is no healing. I feel that discussions like this would have added a great deal of value to the piece, like icing on a cake! Despite this lack, I rate this book 5 stars. Thank you Steve for sharing your humble, and well researched piece of work. All the best!

This is the second of Steve's books that I've read and like The Imperishable Seed of Christ: Understanding The Believer's Spiritual D.N.A. it is short, punchy and to the point.

Steve writes this book to help Christians overcome common lies that prevent them from seeing healing or moving in the healing gift themselves. This is not just theory: Steve's mother was healed of fibromyalgia and the breakthrough came after she stopped believing in one of these lies as do others that he ministers to on the streets in Peru.

This makes sense as Satan is the Father of Lies who seeks to kill, rob and destroy. So the easiest way for Satan to prevent us receiving healing is to convince people that God gives sickness to "teach us a lesson" or that they are too sinful to be healed or many others. We need more books like these to help make us wise to his schemes and to be brought to the truth.

Here's a taster of what to expect: "You'll never Jesus refusing to heal someone because their faith is too small to be healed, but He does rebuke His disciples for their faith being too small to heal others" and "if I am given an umbrella to use in the pouring rain, and I step outside wihtout it, I'll get wet if it's raining. It doesn't mean God 'sent the rain' on me to punish me for not using an umbrella."

An anointed book on healing - please read!!!!

Steve Bremner's book clearly shows how we are crippled by believing the lie that healing is not for today. We walk through our life feeling we are unworthy of healing, God is using our sickness to punish us, or we give up when we pray for someone and they are not immediately healed. The truth is, God loves us and God is not the author of sickness, disease and death. I appreciated Pastor Bremner's well-defined arguments to refute the lies we believe. Most I have heard from my pastor, but there were a few perspectives I hadn't realized. The one that surprised me was that if God was using sickness to discipline a person, when Jesus walked through towns and healed people He would have been acting contrary to God's wishes and we know Jesus perfectly obeyed God's will.

The facts are lovingly presented and substantially documented with Scripture. If you are struggling with sickness, or fearful of laying hands on people, this book will help you to deal with these issues. Even if you fully believe in divine healing, this is a worthwhile book to read and share with others. I highly recommend adding this to your library.

For a full disclaimer I am a friend of Steve's. We both went to the same school of ministry and were some of the few Canadians that were there. That being said, I really appreciated reading his book. A lot of it is similar to what we learned in the school of ministry. But the thing I liked about Steve's book is that it has been refined over years. He has ministered in many cross cultural contexts and taught this stuff all over the world and so you can easily feel the passion he has for people to get it. As well the problems he addresses are likely the things that he has encountered time and again when he teaches these things.

At first as I was reading it a lot of it seemed too simple and formulaic, but then I thought to myself maybe healing really is that simple? The only thing I would say as a balance to this book is that what Steve is writing about are a lot of the absolutes of healing which are true. The bible says that if we lay our hands on the sick they will be healed. But there is an important aspect of our relationship with God and the give and take and trust and disappointment that Steve doesn't cover too much in this book. When we walk with God and learn to hear his voice there are times when He is present to heal and it is amazing, and there are times when he doesn't seem to heal. I believe that it is always Gods will to heal but one of the most beneficial things I've learned is how to trust God again even in the midst of disappointment. Jesus embraced disappointment on the cross when he cried out "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" and there are moments in our journey for healing when we identify with Christ in this. I don't fully understand it but I trust God in those moments and I press on toward the goal for which God has called me heavenward. God is the healer.

Overall, I really appreciated Steve's tender tone especially towards those currently struggling with illness or those who have recently lost someone. He writes with both the heart of a pastor and a teacher. He exegetes scripture carefully and in detail to really show the simple truths of the bible. I have been and am encouraged by his faith. If you are looking to find out more and be encouraged by divine healing, give this book a gander.

When writing a book on theological issues I truly appreciate the effort to support conclusions with not just 1 or 2 references but many. Even if I don't agree with the interpretations (I do in this case) I appreciate the effort. Bremner takes the time to saturate his work with biblical support. That in itself is something to be noted.

This is a very well done work on healing and the lies that can sometimes surround the issue. Followers of Jesus must begin to walk in the life he lived and to do that we've got to start considering things that might make us uncomfortable. This book will challenge and encourage you.

For those wanting a theological exposition on healing this is probably not the book for you. Bremner keeps the approach simple and, well, it should be because living the life of Jesus isn't nearly as complicated as we've made it. I love that he resisted the urge to get sidetracked into things this book wasn't meant to be.

Solid read from a solid man of God.

If you are considering going to pray for the sick, this is your book. When I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Steve's best advice in this book for me was....go and pray for 1000 people before you expect results.
Thanks Steve for a great book which has raised my faith and destroyed any lies. Steve stands on the side of the pond that every true believer should stand. No time to entertain lies and doubts but to spread these simple truths if we want to see results!!!!
